Lucerne to lake Lugano 18.6.12

We decided to change our plans at Lucerne. Instead if heading north to Austria we decided to head to the Swiss Italian alps and Lugano . The drive from Lucerne was full of huge mountains and snow lots of lakes and towns by the highway . We went through the Gottard mountains - this is where the major rivers of Switzerland France and Germany start . The tunnel was 17 kilometres long . The longest so far . The last one was on this same road for 9 kilometres. We are on the motorway with mountainsides either side of us . Waterfalls everywhere and came across trucks all parked on the side of the road as a tunnel was closed for roadworks . We also saw a few landslide areas on the mountains .
