Heading to Venice 29/6

We left Slovenia and took the autostrade to Venice or Venezia(the signs say) . Did we mention just how many huge ikeas are out in Europe - bigger than the one in st peters Sydney . The gps told us to get off the motorway 25 ks before Venice. Pa was very bemused over this as he would of kept on going on the motorway . So pa can now guide us !!! Toll cost was EUR8.10 and we arrived at Mirano Venice at 11 not bad 2 hour trip !

Venice italy 29/6/12

Our accommodation is in Mirano about 3 trains tops from Venice and we are Glamping at Canonici di San Marco lodge resort Have a look in trip advisor - I think they have no website . Put in Glamping Venice !
The day is so hot here . We started at 24 deg c in Slovenia and now it's 39. The train trip is really quick and when you get out of the station at Venice the grand canal is right there in front of you . We walked over the bridge and wound our way to St Marko square stopping at shops along the way and had lunch in a restaurant . We walked over the Rialto bridge with all the little ships on it . We had icecream in the square and it was so hot sticky and 39 degrees . We then went to the ferry and got tickets to go on the ferry no 1 along the grand canal back to Venice Station . Pa (dad) managed to get on the ferry and it took off . We and Sonia were left behind . To top it off he got on the no 2 ferry . Oh so dad . Anyway he got off the next stop and walked back to us still waiting there . The ferry was packed ! Next time I'd pay for a water taxi . We stopped off at a market on the way back and got cheese meats drinks and enjoyed sitting outside on the deck of our glamorous tent and had a few drinks and put our feet up ! A nice ending to the day was the boys had a swim too !

Day trip to Trieste Italy from crhn vri

We left early like at 730am and met garry and sonia in the town square . We drove through towns and stopped at an estate of brightly colored houses . We then continued to take the back road to Trieste . We saw a small ski jump on the side of a hill and them headed out towards zadac and the motorway to go to Trieste. The speed limit on Slovenian roads is 130 km/ h. Pitty those cars near dad who overtook them and the black Mercedes who overtook us doing 150 plus. We followed the freeway and before we knew it the speed limit dropped to 50 and there was the border to Italy ! Then from the bush you come to a town called Opicina . We parked the car and got the tram to Trieste . It went down the mountain and hooked up to a pulley that took it down the steep hill . We then got the bus to a church on a hill and back to the wharf and got the ferry to Grignano Where pa and sonia took the boys swimming and Grahame and I tried to find the white castle on the shoreline . Well how wonderful it was to not find the entrance by the water open , so we had to walk up the s bend hill and through the gates of a beautiful garden ! We walked around the gardens and finally found the castle . It's stunning against the blue of the Adriatic Sea . Now all we have to do is find the stairs to get down and get the boys from the fenced pool area which is on the water with pontoons and slides in the water and small in ground pools as well . Kieran and Tristan were so happy to swim ! All we have to do is catch the no 6 bus back to Trieste and head to Carla's who is Sonia's sister and stay for an early dinner , then head back to Slovenia . I still reach for the seat belt with my right hand ! At least I don't try to change gears in the car with my left hand anymore. 😄
