Happy 9th birthday Tristan !

We woke up this morning and it's Tristan's 9th birthday !!! He got a tennis racquet star wars toys and a connect 4 game for the car ! We had a lovely breakfast of coldmeats egg cucumber tomato fresh bread jams . Luckily we went to the mercartor supermarket and bought special k for the boys brekky . We stopped at this tiny cake shop in town to try to get a birthday cake for Tristan . We headed out to the lakes approx 20 kms from where we are staying . The border of Bosnia is les than 30 kms from the town too . The plitvice lakes are a series of lakes that start up High and wind down stream . We walked down to the bottom and walked upwards . There are log walkways all along the water as well as well worn paths of limestone . The colour of the lakes is made from the limestone underneath . There are lots of carp fish in the water as well as some vegetation . The waterfalls down the cliffs are spectacular as well as the bits of water coming out from the little streams through rock and grasses . There are caves to walk in and also a lovely place for lunch to sit eat and relax in the shade of the trees . Then we got the boat over the lake to a bus which takes us back to our parking area . Well we thought that was the case . We kept on walking around two more lakes . Can't believe we walked for over 4 hours , then when we got in the bus to go back to the car , we had to walk further again to get to where we started . We then went for a drive trying to find the river . When we got there it was dry and we ended up going over an old ricketty bridge !
