8/7-12 happy birthday Michael .

Wow great morning only 25 deg c so far at 9.30am . This is cool ! We called grahames. Brother Michael for his birthday and had a great chat . Glad we are not home as its so wet there . We headed off from Korencia to dubrovnik . Along the road we saw many young women sitting
on stalls beside the road selling honey cheese and flowers . Before we knew it we collected our ticket and we were on the freeway heading south . It's a 5 and 1/2 hour drive ahead of us . We have just clicked over 7000 kms on the car . It looks filthy and hasn't been washed yet . The speed limit on the freeway is. 130 km/h . But yet again we have people overtaking is in the right lane . We continue onwards and through many tunnels and the landscape appears to be desolate with white rocks and small trees , then in the distance there is a beautiful blue lake . We are going along a mountain ridge all the way towards split . The temperature has risen from 25 to 33 in the space of 15 minutes driving ! we stopped for diesel and the young men wash your windows for you . We tip them 5 krona . They asked for 2-3 . As we drive along we. Can see orange terra cotta roofs in the distance looking like clumps of houses for each town . The temperature keeps on rising now at 35 . Our car air conditioning is working well ! more lakes ahead of us !We are passing lots of cars from Poland Netherlands germany all heading south for the holiday break . There are lots of wind generators along the mountain ridges in the distance and near the freeway . At one stage we look up to see a town and then the sign appears 'end freeway ' and we eventually stop and pay a toll of kn116.We then wind down this hill that the road looks like it would fall to bits to the valley below of fruit trees wtc and the temperature now says 38 deg c . The windy road goes through many little villages and to our left you can see the freeway being built on the hillside , bridges already in place . We encountered 3 black BMW cars racing everyone and sticking in and out of cars , then eventually we came to a river and islands and towns about 95 ks from Dubrovnik with loads more fruit sellers on the side of the road . We came to the border of Bosnia hercegovnia and the policeman just waved us on with our red number plates . Not a peek at our passports . Then we went for a look at the seaside town of neum and
Looked across the water to see the Croatian coat of arms on the hill side . Before we knew it 20 ks along we saw the Croatia sign again and we are closer to Dubrovnik . So the traffic stops ahead and the temp is now 40 deg c . We see a rock that has come out of the cliff and this one guy trying to break it up by hand ! Then the traffic stops again !!!! And we cracked 41 deg c !!!! Well what do we see carina sign ie: border check and the outside temp hits 42 deg c . We get waved through again after waiting on the road for over 1/2 hour ! We had lunch at the little seaside town called Slano and continued on to Dubrovnik . Our accommodation is on the hill overlooking Dubrovnik . We walked to the new Harbour and a huge cruise ship 'norwegian jade' was in port . We had dinner overlooking the park,water and the cruise ship .
